Vriesenhof Vineyard at The Tank Room
25 – 26 September 2026
This past weekend, we welcomed Vriesenhof Vineyard to The Tank Room, showcasing a portfolio synonymous with refined Stellenbosch wines, elegance and distinctive character.
From beautifully expressive Chardonnay, including both unwooded and barrel-fermented styles, through to Rosé and a selection of distinguished reds, the tasting offered a wonderful journey through the depth and personality of this celebrated estate.
Twenty-three wine enthusiasts joined us to explore six wines from the Vriesenhof portfolio, moving from fresh and expressive Chardonnay and Rosé through to the estate’s distinguished reds.
At the heart of the tasting were the Cabernet Sauvignon, Jan Boland Coetzee and Kallista, each offering a different expression of Stellenbosch character and winemaking style.
Using a trusted 5-point Likert scale, guests shared their impressions, offering valuable insight into the character and quality of each pour.
3 Wines stood out above the rest, each earning a score of 4 and above:
- Jan Boland Coetzee 2024
- Kallista 2020
- Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2022/2025
The Jan Boland Coetzee 2024 emerged as the clear favourite of the weekend, with the Kallista 2020 following closely behind. The Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2022/2025 completed the top three, giving the tasting a strong showing across both red and white wines.
It was a fitting showcase of Vriesenhof’s Stellenbosch identity, with the tasting demonstrating the estate’s ability to produce wines with elegance, structure and individuality across a diverse range of styles.
Here’s to discovering exceptional wines, sharing good company, and finding new favourites at The Tank Room. We look forward to raising a glass with you again soon.
